About Us
Scouting is a values-based program with its own code of conduct. The Scout Oath and Scout Law help instill the values of good conduct, respect for others, and honesty. Scouts learn skills that will last a lifetime, including basic outdoor skills, first aid, citizenship skills, leadership skills, and how to get along with others. For almost a century, Scouting has instilled in young men the values and knowledge that they will need to become leaders in their communities and country.

| On my honor I will do my best To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; To help other people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight. |
A Scout is... trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent. |

This is what we, the "A Century of Values" team, want to say thanks for. The above website information is listed under the building blocks of the Boy Scouts of America. The Scout Law and the Scout Oath or Promise represent the Values of Scouting that are promoted by the programs of every Scout Council in America. The wording for each part of the family of the Boy Scouts of America, whether it is in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, or Venture Scouts, may be a little different but they all are the same as it relates to Values. The values learned in the programs will indeed last a lifetime.
Our teams will travel the countryside to say thanks to all the volunteer and professional Scouters who have not just promoted these values but have lived by them for the last hundred years. We all know that this program is hard to beat and these values will continue to be lived by Scouters for the next hundred years and beyond. Therefore, a heartfelt need was established to say more than just "thank you" like the little enamel Scout symbol thank you pin we have all seen presented. We felt a more grand gesture was required for the centennial celebration forth coming in 2010. The remembrance of 100 years of Scouting values and the next 100 years of those same values will be reinforced by the journey we are undertaking.
It has always been related to me and I have always related to others that the fun in Scouting is putting fun into it so others can enjoy the program. This is by far the most challenging and the most fun project that I have been involved with over the last several years. This project is about the values that we all on the team believe in. Every one of us has reflected on a youth event and seen the values in action. We have all heard of the values learned in Scouting that affecting someone's adult life. Well it is time to say "Thanks" to the program and the Scouters involved in it.
I think we have hit on something that will be remembered for a long time. The "A Century of Values" National Road Trip will be remembered by all and by each individual involved with it. When Lord Baden Powell or "BP" started this whole thing by accident, little did he know that such a value-based program presented in his way of using the great outdoors, would have such an effect on so many people for such a long time! Thanks BP and all of the BSA on down the line and enjoy the trip everyone!
